Tasmania
Jan had a conference in Hobart this week, so I went over for the weekend and we did some nice walking in Tasmania. It was my first trip, and I was pretty impressed … Hobart is in a perfect position, with amazing coastline, mountains and a nice city center with the port right there in town.
On Saturday we went to Frecinet Peninsula, and did a walk to Wineglass Bay and Hazards Beach. It was pretty much picture perfect postcard stuff … but a bit busy with people until we’d gone past famous Wineglass Bay on to the rest of the walk (which was just as nice).

New Holland Honeyeaters were quite abundant
We saw some cool birds too … Jan spotted a pink robin, and we saw quite a few cuckoos, and fairy wrens.
Sadly these amazing plants are being decimated by root rot
Then the next day we went for a quick trip up Mt Wellington, which overlooks Hobart. It was just dusted with snow at the top, and we went on a really nice walk checking out all the weird kinds of ice crystals, and soaking up the sunshine and the incredible views.
