Pea & Ham Soup

1 cup green split peas (or yellow peas if Tesco’s doesn’t have green ones!)
8 cups boiling water
1 large bacon bone
1 medium chopped onion
1 medium chopped carrot
2 sticks celery
2 cloves garlic, crushed
1 bay leaf ground black pepper
Simmer peas in water for 2 mins then allow to sit for 1 hour. Add remaining ingredients and simmer for at least 2 hours. remove bones and season if need be, it should be salty enough though.
Remove bay leaf and blend all together and serve with yummy bread.
